Hello Orlando.

This past weekend, I went to Orlando for a business trip. And when I say business trip I mean the NBA All Star Weekend. I wish I could tell you guys all about exactly what I was doing there, but because of the nature of the PR industry and the high profile client, I have to keep this vague. But it was a pretty awesome experience...as captured by my iphone.

I had never traveled alone for work like this, and I'm not even gonna lie, I had a small panick attack the night before I left. When Corey dropped me off at the airport, my heart and my mind were racing, wondering how this was all going to go. Traveling solo, to a place I've never been, to work events with people I've never met, and all for a client that is larger than life. It was all a bit overwhelming. But it turned out to be an amazing weekend, starting with the magical flight across the country.
Over the snow...
Through the desert...
In the clouds...
and finally in Florida!
After an $85 cab ride, I finally arrived at the Omni Hotel in Champions Gate Florida. It was quite fancy. I hadn't eaten all day, and it was after midnight so nothing was open, so I ordered room service. I have never enjoyed a ceasar salad so much in my entire life. With my fears of not being able to make it on my own slowly fading away, I got a good night's sleep and I woke up in paradise.
Relaxing by the pool.
Friday morning I had some downtime before the craziness began, so I actually sat by the pool and did absolutely nothing for the first time in a long time. It was SO nice. But it would be my last quiet moment for the remainder of the weekend. The rest would be spent running around Orlando from event to event, managing the media coverage from start to finish at each stop.
Friday night's event was at Universal Studios, and it was awesome! It was my mission to make it to Disneyworld at some point on this trip, but this was as close as I was going to get to an amusement park. I can't wait to bring Corey back there some day and enjoy it! At that event, Fabulous performed and I was the little white girl singing every word. Niiiice!
Saturday brought with it another handful of events, including a stop at the Florida Boys and Girls Club. This was an awesome event, and it was reall cool to see how excited all the kids were. It was a rewarding stop on this crazy trip.
This weekend I not only realized how cool my new job is, but also that I could conquer my fears on my own. Having said that, all the experiences weren't nearly as great as they could have been had I been able to share them with Corey. The stories are never as exciting when I tell them so I'll just have to go back and show him!

Hope everyone is having a great week so far!

Thankful Thursday.

There are so many things in my life right now that I have to be thankful for and I am thankful that I have the time today to put together a blog post about it!

I am so thankful...

*That I am getting the hang of my new job and settling in quite nicely. I am about to head to the airport for a business trip to Orlando for All-Star weekend, so things are going good!

*To be spending so much more time with Corey now that I have a new schedule. I love that I can come home and cook dinner with him, and I love even more when I come home to dinner on the table! He's a good guy.

*For my healthy baby nephew that is going to be here before we know it! My little man is coming in hot and I can't wait to meet him!

*That baseball season is here! I know it's only spring training, but just the sound of a bat on a ball gets me so excited. Can't wait to go to a ton of games in Oakland this season! Go A's!

*For my health. I swear I ate myself into a sugar coma the other night eating WAY more peanut butter M&Ms than any human should consume in one sitting, and my heart started racing. Not gonna lie, it scared me a little... so I'm gonna be better about my sugar intake.

*That I've got a good grip on my wedding planning. I went a little crazy at the beginning, but now that I've got the big stuff done, it's all coming together! Stay tuned for a blog post on my save the dates soon!

*That my blog friend Holly let me guest post in her wedding series. I had so much fun puting this together and taking inventory of everything I've been through so far. Go check out my post here!

*For the gorgeous weather we've had in San Francisco this week. There's nothing like walking down Market street on a warm day and just taking it all in. The Bay Area is a prety beautiful place, and I am thankful I get to live here!

*That all my blogger buds haven't given up on me! I know I've been a terrible blogger lately, but with all the life changes I'm going through right now, something's got to give. I hope to turn that around soon!

*As always, I am thankful for my family. I don't need a day of the week or a blog post to remind me to be thankful for all their unconditional love and support. I am thankful for each of their unique personalities and I'm thankful for the times we can all be together. And this includes my dog Colt.

Clearly I'm feeling very thankful today! What are you guys thankful for?

The Learning Curve.

Well, I'm about two and a half weeks into my new gig and I feel like I'm finally getting the hang of things. At times I've felt like I'm back in school, learning a new chapter of the book every day. It has made my mind exhausted, and when I come home from work, I eat dinner with Corey, shower, and then work on my nightly media clips (which have subsequently stolen my blog time!). By the time I look up at the clock, it's already 2 hours past my bed time. It's been a rough go switching my internal clock upside down, and I'm still adjusting... but I'm getting there, and that's good to know.
My new walk to work.
The PR industry is fun, extremely interesting, and nearly a perfect fit for my lifestyle. I say nearly because I always have to answer one of my two phones any time it rings, and I am essentially on call at all times. And when you have one of the biggest athletes in the world as one of your clients, the phone rings. A lot. And sometimes when I'm in a room with seasoned veterans of the business, I feel like they're speaking a different language. But being home at night and free on weekends has made this tough change totally worth it.

Yesterday, Valentine's day, I had a particularly long day at work and I was mentally and physically exhausted. Corey and I had dinner and went to see "The Vow" (which I really liked even though I've heard a lot of people didn't). After a long day and a sad movie, I was just in a weird, emotional, exhausted funk. But when I walked in the door to our apartment, I saw these beauties...
Thank you, Corey. I love them!
The site of these flowers almost made me cry. No matter how busy I am and how important I think my to-do list is, none of that matters. What matters is love, and life and all those in it. This small gesture made me realize what's important, and it is currently sitting on my table as a constant reminder to literally stop and smell the roses (or tulips in this case)!

Both Corey's best friend and my brother-in-law suffered very sad losses this week, which is just another reminder to enjoy every second of every day. Your life is what you make it! I choose to accept the challenge of mastering my new job, and I'll get there. I'm already on my way!

I miss all my fellow bloggers and your blogs. I promise as soon as I settle in and get all this stuff down, I will get back to blogging! Hope you are all doing wonderful!

What a Weekend!

Hi there my long lost blog buddies!
I realize it's nearly Wednesday and I am just now posting about my awesome weekend, but I've been incredibly busy and exhausted with the big job/life change. Getting used to an entirely different (but better) schedule has taken a toll on my body and my brain, and I am so tired when I get home from work that all I want to do is put my pj's on and relax! But I still want to make documenting my life a priority, so I am now sharing some fun iphone pictures from this past weekend.

On Friday night we celebrated one of my favorite people's birthday...Uncle Craig!
The Birthday Boy & his sweet momma.
A big, happy family dinner!
My Mom & Dad
Mr. & Mrs. P
Rick & Pam
The always entertaining Gary & Masashi
Corey, Darren & Lou hangin in the backyard

After a fabulous family Friday night, I spent Saturday cleaning out my childhood desk. I still had stuff from elementary school in there! Term papers, scholarship applications, notes from friends, report cards, etc. For some reason, I could never bring myself to part with them...until now.
One of many, many piles!

Saturday night I went to my first crab feed as an adult. I have served at many of these when I was young, and always drooled over the food I served while we got fed leftover meat and cheese tray sandwiches. This time, I was more than thrilled to eat the good stuff and have a good time!
Pre-crab feed pic with my girls and the baybee!
Buying an "arm's length" of raffle tickets. Corey has quite the wingspan!
Got our bibs on and we're ready to go!
All the ladies. All looking at different cameras.

Sunday of course, was Superbowl Sunday! It's one of my favorite days of the year. I love sports, I love food, and I love hanging out with my family and all of our friends, so it's always an awesome day.
The gang watching the game.
Me and my guy :)
4 friends and a little lady.
Craig & dad, and some hooligans in the background!
Hanging by the food (and there was a TON of it!)
The gang gathered around the fire pit.

So there you have it! My wonderful weekend in iphone photos. Words and pictures could never explain how much I love spending time with my people. It was an added bonus to have Corey's entire family hang out with us on Superbowl Sunday. I am so lucky to have such wonderful people in my life!
I'm already ready for the next weekend!
Hope you are all having a wonderful week so far!
