Coldplay Concert

 Coldplay. Is. Awesome.
I'l start this post by admitting that I'm not the biggest Coldplay fan in the world. I like a few of their songs, but have never really been crazy about them. When I found out they were coming to San Jose, I had to get tickets for Corey because "see Coldplay live" is on his bucket list. No matter the cost, I had to find a way to get Corey to that concert. So I bought him tickets for his birthday and I am SO happy I did!
On the road to San Jose!
My sister Pixie is a big Coldplay fan, so her and her boyfriend, Pierce, came down to stay with us for the weekend and go to the concert. We had so much fun with them and we're so glad they came with us!
When we walked in, we were handed these snazzy bracelets...
While they were colorful and cool, we weren't quite sure what they were for. But before the show started, we received our instructions...
And the second the show started, we found out exactly what these little things were for:

It was pretty amazing. And I love this video because you can hear how excited and happy Corey is. It was so awesome to look around and see all the colors light up the dark stadium. It's like those bracelets made us all a part of the show, and what an unbelievable show it was! Even though I don't consider myself a huge Coldplay fan, I could still appreciate the entertainment value, amazing lighting, and undeniable talent of Coldplay's live concert. There were lazers, lights, confetti, beach balls, and an extremely high-energy performance. If I wasn't a fan before the show, I am definitely a fan now!
I never knew Chris Martin had so much personality! He ran around the stage,
jumping and leaping all over the place, even falling to the ground out of pure exhaustion at times. His energy was infectious, and the crowd was definitely feeding off it!

When the band returned for their encore, they popped up in the section right next to us! I was playing with my iPhone when Corey started tapping my shoulder like crazy, saying "Look, look! They're right there!" It was unreal how close they were to everyone. It's always awesome to see bands interact with the fans.
Corey was smiling the entire time!
And our wristbands were glowing all night long!

It really was an amazing show, and I'm glad I got to experience it. But I am even more happy that Corey got to experience it because he loves Coldplay's music and going to see them live really meant a lot to him.

Corey's Bucket List
-See Coldplay LIVE

Check it off the list!
Now I need to see what we can cross off next...

Taco Night!

In my family, taco night is like a holiday.
It brings people together. It leaves you stuffed. It must be celebrated.

When we get that call from our good friends Darren and Lou, the "hey we're making tacos on Friday night!" call... it's on! You see, these aren't your typical tacos. They have a special, secret, and addictive ingredient. And you'll have to taste it to believe it...
The ingredients:
Lettuce/tomatoes/black olives/and a scoop of mayo combination
Shredded cheese (by hand, not the pre-grated kind! Big difference)
Ground beef with LOTS of garlic
Pork and Beans.
Topped with Srirachas hot sauce.
I know the pork & beans sound like an odd thing to put on a taco, but it gives the taco a sweetness, that when combined with the garlic-heavy meat, cold and crunchy lettuce mixture, and spicy srirachas is irresistible!
The taco masters!
Dad building a masterpiece.
Corey chomping away on his tacos.
Mrs. P loading up.
Uncle Craig getting in on the taco action.
I love me some special tacos!
Darren cooking up some more taco shells.
On any given taco night, our group goes through 80-90 tortillas. Coach Vic is currently the record-holder for most tacos eaten in a night, but Nellie and Corey are always right on his heels. Ya, Nellie can slam down some tacos with the best of 'em.
Here's what happens when you eat too many tacos...
...people take pictures of you when you pass out on the couch!

I love taco nights, not only because of the amazing tacos, but also because it's another excuse for the gang to get together.
What's your favorite family meal?

Relaxing Weekend Recap

This past weekend was one of the most relaxing weekends I've had in a long time.
And somehow I still managed to get a lot of big stuff done!

On Friday, Corey and I met with our lender to get pre-approved for a home loan. We loved our lady, Michele, who is a friend of a family friend, and she took the time to answer every single one of our million questions. We've never bought a home before, so we want to do it right the first time! We are SO excited to get the home-buying process underway!
My dream home.

After the successful meeting with the lender, it was Taco Night! Taco Night is such an event in our family, it is going to get its own blog post in the coming days. Stay tuned for the best tacos in the world!

On Saturday, my first stop was Enchanted Bridal Shoppe to pick up my wedding dress! It fit me like a glove! Just need to have the seamstress shorten it a little, insert some boobs, and add a bustle and she's ready to go! I love, love, love it. This week I am going to DSW to get my wedding shoes. Things are coming a long!

While the boys were golfing for Bryan's birthday...
My sisters and I were relaxing by the pool.
And Mr. Colt was trying to find some shade!

As for the rest of the weekend, you remember this little guy, right?
Well, if you can read his shirt, it says "It's All About Me!"
And it really is all about him...
GG (great grams) loves the baby.
Baby Brendan & Uncle Corey
Auntie Shawna and a sleepy baby.
My dad and his new best bud.
Aunt Pixie giving the baby some love.
Uncle Paulie and Brendan.
Me and my little ham.
(I love him even if his dad dresses him in Giants gear)

It was a nice and relaxing weekend, but its back to the grind! It's already shaping up to be a busy week at work, and I have some wedding things on my to-do list.
Here's to a productive week!

Baby Brendan's Arrival

The baby is finally here!
After 9 months, 10 days & many, many hours, Brendan Michael finally decided to come out.
It was a weekend full of anticipation, excitement, and lots of waiting.
Friday night
With the baby now 10 days overdue, Nellie's doctor (who also delivered me and all my sisters!) decided to induce her on Friday night. Nellie, Ben, my mom and I were ready to go at 5:00pm when the nurse called and said it was a busy night at the hospital and that she would have to come later. After all this time, what's a few more hours? Finally at 8:00pm, we headed to the hospital, ready to get the show on the road!
Momma Nellie ready to go!
Our "baby is coming!" faces
After a few hours, Dr. Knight made my mom and I go home so that Nellie could get some sleep. He said it would be a "long road ahead." So Ben stayed with Nell and we went home. Thank goodness we all got some sleep because it was definitely a looooong 24 hours!
Saturday was a long day of waiting. We spent a lot of time in her room, reading magazines, snacking, talking, and taking bets on the over/under on the baby's weight (bonus points for with hair/without hair).
Nellie and The Uncles.
Pixie taking care of Nell.
Ben & Nellie.
The boys didn't quite have the patience to sit still all day, so they spent some time outside in the healing garden.
Even after hours of labor-inducing drugs, things were still moving pretty slowly. It took Nellie several hours to get dialated to just 3cm, so we figured we were hours away still. So Shawna and I decided to go get some Mexican food.
My big sis and I went to Luis' Jr. It was Delicious!
We made a quick pit stop at our house to let our doggies out, but we weren't even gone an hour before we started getting texts and phone calls: "Where are you? She's fully dialated!" We couldn't believe she progressed so quickly! So Shawna and I ran to the car and raced back to the hospital. When it finally came time for the home stretch, we all headed to the waiting room... to wait.
Dad, me, Shawna & Pixie.
Grams patiently waiting to become great grams.
(Just call her "G-G")
Nellie's crew took up the entire waiting room.
Finally, at 8:18pm, baby Brendan was born. With lots of hair, by the way. My mom and Ben's mom came out of the room with the biggest smiles on their faces. After waiting a little longer, we finally got to meet the little guy.
Allow me to introduce you to the little man, Brendan Michael.
Mommy & baby.
Daddy & baby.
The new grandma & baby.
Me & baby.
I could not be more proud to call this handsome little devil my nephew, and I couldn't be more proud of my sister. She did SO good! Far better than I am going to do someday, I'm sure. She was so calm and so relaxed. I am going to be one crazy lady the day I have to push out a baby! I feel bad for Corey already :)
But this little guy did not disappoint...
He was definitely worth the wait!
