Ruby Tuesday

I can NOT believe how fast my little girl Ruby has grown up. It feels like just yesterday that we went and picked up the last remaining girl from the litter; the cutest, most playful little pup rolling around in the dirt. I miss the days of being able to hold her and carry her around like a little baby, but Ruby is still the sweetest, most loving puppy ever! She runs our house for sure! She's got Corey wrapped around her little paw, and he is absolutely the love of her life. She follows him around everywhere and even gets jealous when he hugs me. She's a crazy little girl, and I couldn't imagine our lives without her.

Here are some pictures of her first 8 months so you can see how big she's gotten (warning: be prepared for doggy picture overload!)
The day we brought little miss Ruby home!
Rubes and her daddy. They have a special bond!
I feel like she was only this small for a couple days!
Such a little stinker!
She loooves giving Corey kisses.
I can't believe she used to fit in that space!
This video still makes me cry... my BFF Kari compiled a ton of tremendously cute and sweet footage of Ruby growing up with Sadie.

And then almost overnight, she was all grown up!
When I tell her we're going to Petco, her favorite store, she waits by the door. The employees there love her, and let her pick whatever she wants from the doggy bar. She makes friends everywhere she goes!
She loves going for walks with momma. And she is SO good on the leash. She doesn't pull or bark, and refuses to go potty on anyone else's lawn. She is such a lady!
I don't think she'll ever be too big for Corey to hold her. She still loves when he holds her like a baby!
She goes with us everywhere we can take her, and she gets so exhausted from running around and playing with everyone. She goes to Home Depot, family parties, Corey's baseball games, and anywhere else doggies are allowed!
And she still loves hanging with her first friend, Sadie.
She is so happy when she's outside with us in the yard.
This is Ruby today, and yes, Corey still holds her like a baby!
Ruby is our first baby, and she is the love of our lives! She's such a doll... even when she chews up the TV remotes! She comes almost every where we go and is so well-behaved. I am such a proud dog momma! She is scheduled for surgery in a couple weeks to get fixed, remove her dewclaws, and get microchipped, and I am already a nervous wreck about it. She's our baby girl and has been the best dog we could ever ask for.

What a Week!

This was one of the craziest work weeks I've had to date. Between working two major events, checking into three different hotels in three days, and balancing four different clients, this week was definitely a blur. I couldn't be happier that the weekend is finally here!

It all started on Sunday when I drove to San Francisco to fly to Los Angeles. One of my main clients is Virgin America, and they don't fly out of Sacramento, so it's an hour and a half drive before I hop on a flight for them. This week, the airline launched a brand new route from LAX to Las Vegas, complete with an inaugural flight full of celebrities, a red carpet ceremony at the airport, and a full scale launch party at the Cosmopolitan hotel in Vegas. It was busy to say the least!
At LAX, the celebrities reported to the amazing Virgin America Loft for photo opps before boarding the inaugural flight. Our celebrities included Stacy Kiebler (who was unbelievably nice!), Jamie Pressley (who didn't take off her sunglasses once), Joe Jonas (and his new girlfriend), and Adrienne Maloof (a former housewife of Beverly Hills). Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson was also in attendance, and people go crazy over him! I sat right behind him and the celebs on the flight, and it was the most surreal plane ride of my life.
This is my job. I get media to show up and cover my clients' news and events. Needless to say, this red carpet celebration and press conference was a success!
After a long 48 hours of running around like a crazy person, my coworker and I got to walk the red carpet at the Cosmopolitan launch party. If only someone would pay me to just show up and get my picture taken. Must be nice!
Here was my view from our room at the Cosmopolitan. Just seconds after I snapped this picture, I was passed out snoring. Only 2/3rds of my work trip was complete.
The next morning, I traded my bright Las Vegas lights for the busy city of San Francisco, where I was in town to do some training for another one of my accounts. During my one night in SF, I got to meet up with one of my girlfriends for dinner and to watch the Warriors game. It was a nice distraction from all the work and it was so nice to catch up with her! (Love you Jen!)

After all the travel, it was back to the office to start compiling the media hits and preparing reports. Which brings me to now, where I am in my PJs and SO ready for bed at 10pm on Friday night. And my husband is already fast asleep. He's had a busy couple days too... and he's got some exciting news that I can share soon!

Hope you all have a wonderful, relaxing weekend!

Friday Night Fun at the Fontana's

This past Friday night, we celebrated my brother-in-law's birthday with a fun BBQ. My brother-in-law is a rare breed. Not only is he pretty hilarious, enormously loving, and unfortunately a Giants fan, he is also a twin. So we actually got a two-for-one deal in the birthday department. It was a packed house full of friends and family, and it's always a good time when we all get together!
The Birthday Boys (clearly not identical twins!)
We also had a house full of baby boys! Trying to get them to smile all at once was impossible.
My favorite little boy of all time, Brendan. (I also got lots of snuggles from my other all-time favorite, Johnny!)
Ben & Nellie reading with their little boy.
Grandma & Grandpa with the little monkey!
We are so lucky to have parents that like to hang out with us. They are always there for anything we do, and nothing feels complete without them there!
 Quite the crowd for presents!
Shawna and Pixie with the birthday boy.
The awesome Fontana family, Corey, KQ, Jenny and Gina.
Miss Ruby also got to attend the party, and she patiently waited for people to drop their scraps!
The hubs and I. Love this big guy!
It's amazing how much better I feel after a MUCH needed haircut!

Hope you all are having a great weekend! I'm off to Las Vegas for a work event tomorrow morning, so this should be another fun, busy week!

Home Improvements

Since the day we moved in, our new house has been one big project after another. Not that it needed much work, but we've been putting our own spin on this little piece of property we now call home. I'd like to say it's been fun, but in all honesty, it's been a ton of work for us. And by us, I mostly mean Corey! Corey has seriously been Mr. Handyman lately, and he's poured his blood, sweat, and tears (ok, there haven't been any tears...yet!) into this house, and everything is really coming together! Here are a couple before and afters to show our progress...
This is what our house looked like when we first bought it. It still had its old, original shingle roof from the '70's, horrible baby blue wood siding, and god knows what kind of plants those are growing out of the old white rocks. But we could see the potential...
This is what our house looks like now. New roof, tan stucco with stone trim, new light fixtures, and we removed all the rock and old plants. We still need to landscape the front yard, but first we are laying some more concrete by the door and the other side of the driveway, which we are currently working.
Ruby is a good little helper in the yard!
One of the first things we did was fill what was an old dirty, empty hole where a fireplace should be with a gas insert. I love sitting by the fire, so this was a top priority for me.
Now, I am absolutely in love with my cozy, remote-controlled fire. During the winter months, I had it on nearly every night. And now that it's almost summertime, I will still have it on almost every night (for ambiance, of course!).
It's tough to tell in this picture, but when we first moved in, there was a solid wall separating the living room and the dining room (in this picture, it's the wall to the left of the door way). It really interrupted the whole "flow" of the house, and we really wanted a more open space...
So we cut that sucker in half, added a bar, a cabinet and some bar stools, and now we've got an open room with more seating.
Before, there wasn't anything at the end of the covered padio (on the left side of this picture), which created dilemma #1 for Corey: no place to hang a TV in the backyard. Problem solved...
Since we were doing new stucco around the house, Uncle Craig and Corey framed a wall and the crew stuccoed it like it was always there. I'll admit, I wasn't a fan of the idea at first, but it's turned into a pretty cool setup out there. And yes, the makeshift shelf underneath the TV is yet another ongoing project!
Other projects on the to-do list include getting the pool up and running for the summer, decorating more on the inside of the house, creating a dog run on the side of the house for miss Ruby, installing a custom double door for the front entryway, and hanging a shower door in the guest bathroom. And those are just the short term projects!
It's true what they say... once you own a house, the work is never done!

Brendan's 1st Birthday

Man, it's crazy how fast time flies! I feel like we were just at the hospital, waiting for my first nephew to arrive, and now the little man that completely and utterly owns all of us is one year old. I fell in love with this guy the second  I laid eyes on him, and I've absolutely enjoyed every single second I've spent watching him grow. Brendan has been walking and talking since very early on, and I can't wait for the day he learns how to say "auntie!" I'm telling you, it's ridiculous how cute this little guy is. And his laugh just melts my heart. If I'm ever stressed or worried, he makes me forget about everything. How could you be upset when you look into those sweet blue eyes and hear that little belly laugh? We are so lucky to have this guy in our lives, and this past weekend we had a chance to all come together and celebrate our little monkey!

Brendan's momma Nellie was stressing about this party, but everything turned out absolutely perfect. The monkey-themed birthday bash was a hit and I think Brendan and his pals all had a good time :)
Brendan loved the sign I made for him... which made me happy since auntie spent many, many hours on that sign!
Brendan and his momma. He looooved the balloons.
Crazy hair!
Johnny Fontana made an appearance, rocking some mad cool style.
Brendan playing with his pal.
The birthday boy and I.
Gramma having a good time with Johnny.

Brendan's mom and dad bring him the cake... although he's wasn't too sure about it.
Nope, not a fan of the cake.
The crowd gathers to watch the birthday boy open a ton of presents.
He loved all his toys...
...but he really loves his books! Especially the Mickey Mouse Club book.
And he picked up some chicks with his new ride!
After a full day of playing with his pals, eating, drinking, and having fun, our happy little monkey had enough!

Brendan has already brought so much happiness to our lives in his first year. I can't wait to keep watching him grow into a handsome, smart, and sweet little man.
P.S. Thank you to auntie Kari/our family photographer for the amazing pictures!
