Fun at the California State Fair

Just in time before it packed up its squeaky rides and makeshift exhibits for another town, my family and I hit the State Fair for an afternoon of rigged games, unhealthy food, and scamming carnies. I know, when I put it like that it sounds terrible! But in all seriousness, we had a lot of fun wasting money trying to win my nephews a minion, eating fried food and "browsing" booths for unnecessary goods. I was exhausted from the Justin Timberlake-Jay-Z concert from the night before (post coming soon), but I was so excited to take my nephews to the fair for the first time! Plus, it wasn't too hot and it wasn't too crowded, so we had a very enjoyable afternoon.
The infamous photo of an overpriced fair photo.
The boys didn't have much luck on the games, and Bryan wasn't very successful in his negotiations with the carnies. I'm convinced all the games are rigged, but I payed to play anyway!
The boys love their grandma! (the hot golden bear? not so much.)
Bryan and his huge fried turkey leg.
This was actually my first time ever on the gigantic slide.
Just for the family archives, I wanted to show the photo finish in which I won by a mile!
How cute does my mom look wearing Brendan's Superman hat?
P.S. Brendan is in the corner collecting rocks. No big deal.
Beautiful momma Shawna and a tired Johnny.
It was a fun Saturday morning out in the sun with my family. Corey was catching up on his sleep, so he missed out, but we will be back again next year!

My big kid birthday party.

I love my birthday. Since my sisters and I were little, we always had the best birthday parties, so I've made it my personal mission to keep them going into our adult years. So this past weekend I celebrated my 27th birthday with a jump house, snow cones, childhood friends, and a candy bar. So grown up, I know! If you drove by my house, you'd swear it was a five-year-old's birthday party, and many of my neighbors were confused because they thought Corey and I didn't have any kids. Little do they know... I'm a little kid at heart!

Between jumping and swimming and eating and playing corn hole and eating some more, it was a fun, crazy day with all my closest family and friends!

My 4th annual jump house extravaganza! This year's theme was Mickey Mouse clubhouse, in honor of my boy Brendan.

The boys playing with Corey's new toy: a floating beer pong table.

Corn hole tourney in the front yard. Corey suffered his first loss on his own turf!
Aunt sis had the best seat in the house!
Grandma's Boys!
Dessert tower, snow cone stand, chocolate fountain & candy bar.
Now that's my kind of party!
Oh boy. My girls had a little tooooo much fun!
Rubes held down the fort.
My friends from childhood! So good to see them!
Brendan partied too hard! He passed out with grandpa!
This was the first time I had my birthday party at my own house, and it was another successful party in the books! I had so much fun and am so thankful for everyone coming to celebrate my birthday with me!
I already can't wait for next year...

Zoo + Ice Cream with my Boys

I had the unexpected luxury of a day off work this week, and could have done many things I only dream of doing on a daily basis. Like sleep in. Or take a nap. Maybe even float in my pool on that comfy raft that has been calling my name for weeks. But instead, I spent it waiting in line at the Smog station and DMV, taking care of my car registration that I didn't even know was 3-months past due (long story, don't ask). So after an early morning filled with vehicle fumes, irritatingly long lines, and horribly unhappy DMV patrons and employees, you can imagine my excitement when I got a call from my big sis to see if I wanted to go to the zoo with Johnny and Brendan. It was all I needed to escape from reality for a couple hours...
These two boys absolutely melt my heart. Just being around them makes me so happy! I loved hearing Brendan say "Wooooooow" everytime we saw an animal, and listening to Johnny try to talk to them. Their little voices are the cutest things in the world, and I wish I could bottle them up and preserve them so I could listen to them forever. Ok, I admit, that was a little weird (#psychoauntie), but you get the idea!
The boys loved the giraffes!
And they didn't want to get out of the dump truck!
After a hot, fun afternoon at the zoo, we took the boys for some ice cream at Vic's. After giving these little guys some sugar, hilarity ensued as Johnny knocked over the water while Brendan poured the salt and pepper shakers into the spill, which inevitably soaked Shawna and I. Their eyes were so big and they were both on such a sugar high, Shawna and I could not stop laughing. It was the most fun I've had an ice cream shop maybe ever!
Let the crazy begin...
This picture cracks me up!
It was such an awesome day away from the office. It made me realize I need to get out more often!
Hope everyone had a great week! Enjoy your weekend!

4th of July Weekend

July is my favorite month of the year. Nothing makes me happier than summer BBQ's, fireworks, baseball, and my birthday. Unfortunately this 4th of July, both Corey and I had to work. I was on assignment in San Francisco, overseeing the media efforts for Team New Zealand during the America's Cup opening ceremony. It was actually a cool experience, but I raced home just in time to eat dinner with my family and catch some fireworks up on the roof with my parents. It was actually a pretty fun day.

Since we both worked on that day, Corey and I decided we would have our own 4th of July BBQ at our house on Sunday. We had a great turnout of family and friends  to celebrate summer, and for many of them to see our new house for the first time. It was a day filled with lots of food, swimming, watching baseball, playing corn hole, chasing babies and visiting with family and friends.
Corey and all his buddies.
Me and Mr. Brendan.
Johnny cruising in the water with his momma.
Brendan dancing by the pool. Aren't his stars & stripes shorts adorable?
Little miss Ruby is quite the swimmer now. You can't get her out of the pool!
Was so glad I got to catch up with my childhood BFF, Angelina. She's still one of the funniest people I know!
The guys hangin out on the patio watching baseball.
Chef John hard at work on the grill. All the food was amazing!
Johnny and Bryan.

Ange, Joanne, Sole, Mrs. P and my mom keeping cool inside.
Candid shot at the bar. Finally figured out who ate all the chips (Brendan)!
Time to eat! On the menu: Tri-tip, teriyaki chicken, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, mom's famous pasta, green salad, fruit salad, potato salad, and garlic cheese bread.
Love this picture of Mrs. P and baby Caden!
We had such a good time hosting a house full of all our favorite people. Corey and I spent the next day recapping stories and talking about how much fun we had. We are already planning the next one, which will definitely include a very large jump house :) Just another reason why July is my favorite month!
